Friends of Walgrave School (FOWS)

(formerly the PTA)

FOWS is a friendly Committee of people who exist to provide close links between home and school, to bring staff and parents together to provide social experiences and to fundraise to help support the school with equipment to enrich the learning and social experiences for the children. 

We are a registered charity, charity number 1109808.

Operation Adventure

This is a project to develop the grounds to the rear of the mobile.  The first phase of which will be to install a Trim Trail which looks like this.

This phase will cost around £8,000 and we would LOVE to start work as soon as we can so the children can enjoy it.

Be a part of the FOWS

Whether you are new to the school or you have children already attending, there is no better time to join our fun, friendly, creative team!

We are always looking for new members to make a real difference to our school for the good of all.

All parents and members of the local community are welcome to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time.  The committee meets each term, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. However, that isn’t the only way to support FOWS; you could:

• Work for a company that provides match funding
• Sponsor a stall
• Sponsor an event
• Provide game/raffle prizes
• Host a fundraising event
• Bake cakes
• Man a stall at one of our events
• Or you might have an idea we haven’t yet thought of!

• And a very long time ago they fundraised for the installation of the swimming pool

Upcoming Events

We endeavour to put on a wide range of events both for the children and also their families.  These are spread over the course of the academic year.  A timetable of upcoming events is below:

We will also have refreshments stall at Dance Afternoon and the Summer Showcase.

Please contact us using the links above if you can help with any of these events, many hands make light work!  Perhaps you could share them in your class WhatsApp groups and/or on Social Media as well as reminding your child(ren) and their friends about them.

We’re now registered with easyfundraising, which means you can help us for FREE, every time you purchase online. Over 4,000 shops and sites will donate to us when you use easyfundraising to shop with them – at no extra cost to yourself! Your School Lottery

It’s easy, choose 6 numbers between 0-9 and if they match the weekly lottery draw, you win great prizes. One player wins a cash prize every week, maybe even the £25k jackpot!  Match Funding

Please click HERE to see UK Companies who have previously offered match funding.

If you work for an organisation that has a match funding policy, any money you raise could be matched by your employer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Usually, the employee will need to supply them with a letter from the FOWS detailing the date and nature of the event, together with the total raised.

We understand that the high street banks, building societies, supermarkets and large corporations are likely to do match funding, but these schemes are not exclusive to the major corporate giants. If you work for an independent company, they may be interested in charitable giving through match funding too.

We would be grateful if you could see if your employer has a match funding scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events. If you can’t help out this time, but you know the company you work for has a match funding policy, please let us know. This could be a really large source of income for the FOWS and help us raise money for the children of Walgrave Primary School.
